I am excited to finally be able to share this gem with you! So, I really wanted to get this written months ago, but it has been a little hard committing time to reading and writing these days.
When I first started reading The Adrenal Fatigue Solution by Fawne Hansen, I was struck by how much detail and research is packed in this manual. For anyone suffering from fatigue, especially stress-related, this is a must-read. Technical and practical at the same time, Adrenal Fatigue Solution offers information about organs, hormones, neurotransmitters, etc. involved with Adrenal Fatigue along with advice for recovery.
Appropriately, Fawne dedicates this book “To all those who, in trying to improve life for themselves and their families, have worn themselves out”.
Four years ago when I was still a newbie to this kind of exhaustion, I had no idea what was happening to my body other than the general realization that I was “running myself ragged”. But what was really going on at a physiological level and why was it so hard to “bounce back”? Well, I might be in a different season of recovery if I had access to this book sooner than later!
In fact, that’s exactly what motivated the author Fawne to write this book and other materials (check them out here!). She herself was a sufferer of Adrenal Fatigue and noticed the lack of adequate resources out there on the subject.
What This Book Covers
She, along with Dr. Eric Wood went to great lengths to put this guide together.
First, you’ll find charts explaining related anatomy, detailed descriptions of how each bit works together, and a thorough look at the pathways between the hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, reproductive glands, and adrenals–the HPA, HPT and OAT/ATT Axes. Though this book is loaded with useful technical information like this, don’t worry! It is written for all of us to understand.
After the science lesson, you can read on about various causes of Adrenal Fatigue, key symptoms, and how to test for this disorder.
My absolute favorite part of The Adrenal Fatigue Solution is the last half which goes into detail about how to recover. Diet (plus recipes!), lifestyle (how to encourage repletion when society encourages depletion?), helpful supplements and more are covered. It really is exciting to learn about Adrenal Fatigue and how it affects pretty much everything from sleep to eating to cognitive function to even pregnancy (No, a healthy pregnancy is not just a woman’s responsibility, there’s a section for men on that note too!)!
All in all, I love the advice, and I must confess that this is probably the most thorough work I’ve read on the subject. Not only does The Adrenal Fatigue Solution cover all the basics, it goes into detail about other topics you wouldn’t necessarily think are related.
Special thanks to Fawne for your work, help, and inspiration. Like you, I see way too much Adrenal Fatigue happening all around me coupled with a lack of awareness from patients and doctors alike. This book is so appropriate for the times!
