12 Months of Healing (and counting!)

December 2017 was a tough one.

I had been sick for over 4 years at this point, and that month like so many others was one, long crash. I was coming off of a cold and trying to survive the hectic holiday schedule. It all had taken a toll on me, and lying in bed I was too sick to move much. I was too weak to even grab my water bottle at the side of the bed. So I went thirsty. Everything hurt.

A couple weeks before that Christmas, my twin and I wrote this article about living with such crushing and frustrating fatigue (though it was published months later) for solvecfs.org.

“Grief is hard for us. It’s as if we’ve died but are still around with the memories of how things were and what we could do. When we dream, we run everywhere! No more ‘I’m-trying-to-run-but-can’t-seem-to-move’ dreams. That happens enough in real life. We miss our friends, the food we used to eat, and simply how we lived.”

A few days before Christmas, I got the diagnosis after years of searching: I was infected with a tick-borne illness.

The treatment options were all expensive, invasive, and indefinite. Words like “incurable” and “Chronic” came up multiple times and we didn’t know what to do.

We prayed for direction and any sense of confidence in a treatment plan.

January 15th I posted this as an update about my diagnosis .

That same day, a fellow chronic illness survivor reached out to me:

“Sorry about your new […] Diagnosis. I just wanted to let you know that I’ve heard good stories about using Plexus supplements for [your disease]. I started using them recently and they’ve totally been helping me make improvements that I still wasn’t able to get over after years of organic, high-quality foods and supplements.”

That simple note caught my eye and seemed like an answer to prayer. After 3 days of crazy research, number crunching, and notes with my doctors, I went for it. The success stores were convincing and I was at the beginning of a long lets-see-if-this-treatment-will-work-on-you journey with my doctors anyway. If I was to be a test subject for the foreseeable future, I might as well start with Plexus.

You can see what happened during my first 60 days with Plexus HERE .

We were blown away as I got dramatically better. I had to get reacquainted with myself, and my husband had to meet a whole new wife he’s never had before.

This girl who would sleep 12-14 hours a day and struggle to wake up each day was actually waking up BEFORE husby, and WAY more refreshed than he was. What?!?

April 12th I decided to get a little crazy and run for the first time in 4.5 years

My body felt like one big charlie horse for a few days after, but it was a start! Since then I’ve been running 1-2 miles, weight training, and doing so well!

In November, a DNA test came back with NO detectible bacterial DNA or co-infections. YAY!!

My energy keeps improving and it struck me this past Christmas how different my life is now. I have not had a bad or sick day since Plexus. My energy is stable, and my immune system is rocking it! I have been pain free (unless I overdo it in my workouts). I gained 10lb (finally!). I’ve been able to reintroduce a ton of restricted foods, and my leaky gut GUT went away.

I’ve been able to travel, hike, run, start my own business, and be the wife my husband deserves.

In 2017 I had 23 Dr. appointments and consults, 9 blood draws, 4 ultrasounts, 1 Xray, and 3 weird labs. I was one, expensive, hot mess.

In 2018, I had 11 Dr. appointments and consults, 5 blood draws, and 1 weird lab. Most were routine. Not too shabby!

NO TRADITIONAL TREATMENTS WERE USED. Just these plant-based, glucose-metabolism balancing, detoxifying, and gut/immune supporting supplements.

I am blown away by how God answered our prayers so quickly, and turned seemingly devastating news into a hope-giving story. My life is back and God has given me a desire to help others get healthy, live toxin-free, and thrive again too.  If you’re ready for life change, let’s connect!
