Winter. Cold. Windchill. Numb toes and fingers. What does all this remind you of? That’s right, BONE BROTH! I’ve been thriving this winter with endless amounts of homemade soups, stews, chilies, and bone broth. Bone broth has been making a strong comeback recently as many people are benefiting from its super (duper) food properties. It can help soothe your tummy, heal leaky gut, increase bone and joint health, boost your immune system and loads more. Even the ancient Egyptians used bone broth to cure their ailments! I won’t get into all the details at the scientific and big-words level, but it’s no joke. This stuff is really good for you, and if you suffer from chronic health issues like me, I highly recommend giving bone broth a try. Load up on protein, collagen/gelatin, minerals and more by eating it every day if you can either by itself or in your favorite soups and stews.
Now, there are tons of fantastic recipes out there for bone broth, but this is a way easy version for those of us who are strapped for time and energy.

Quick tips
• At the end, you’ll notice fat and a funky film collecting at the top (see picture). You can skim all this off if you desire, but you don’t have to if you don’t want to. I skim it all off to help with the taste and my cholesterol.
• Bone broth freezes well. If you make a large batch that may end up sitting a while in the refrigerator, I recommend leaving enough broth out for 5 days at a time and freezing the rest until you need it.
Let me know what you think, and how bone both has helped you!
